Location: NOVOTEL WOLLONGONG NORTHBEACH (Room: TBA), 14 Cliff Rd, North Wollongong NSW 2500.
All members and prospective members are invited to attend as we hold an election for office bearers for 2023 for the positions of: President, Treasurer, Secretary, Primary Rep, Secondary Rep, Non-Government School Rep, Library Assistants Rep, and Technology/ Social Media Co-Ordinator. There will be an opportunity to find out about ISLA’s operations and finances, ask questions, plan for the rest of the year and vote on any resolutions proposed.
We are a very friendly and enthusiastic group of people and welcome any members or prospective members to join us for this meeting. In addition to our regular network meetings, the ISLA committee meet to plan and organise ISLA events. As well as the individuals in elected positions, the committee is made up of general ISLA members. If you are interested in joining or learning more about the committee, you are welcome to attend our committee meetings and participate as much or as little as you like. This is an excellent way to connect with other school library people and potentially contribute to the school library community by helping us plan and organise our ISLA activities. If you are interested in coming along to committee meetings, let us know at the AGM or email contact@isla.group
Now is also a great time to join ISLA for 2023 if you have not already. Many of us find ISLA membership to be a great opportunity to get to know like-minded library lovers who share the passions of literature, literacy and all things library. Being a member of ISLA gives you the opportunity to ‘give something back’ to the profession and our local community of school library and information specialists. Click the following link to join: https://isla.group/membership/
ISLA is very much open to all school library staff including Teacher Librarians, Librarians, Teachers in the Library, and all Library Support Staff.
We hope to see you at the AGM and future ISLA events!
More manga help from Gabby Cundy
During the conference, Gabby mentioned two additional resources that might help in identifying suitable manga titles for school library collections. Here they are:
No Flying No Tights (website) They have a great list of reviews of manga titles and some articles that can give people some more confidence. They also have filters to search titles by age groups click there for No Flying No Tights.
What Are the Age Ratings in Manga? (article) This article looks at publishers’ rating labels for manga & graphic novels. In this article click on the highlighted yellow text to go to further articles with examples of specific age-recommended titles. Click here for What Are the Age Ratings in Manga?
Thank you for sharing For All Readers School Library Conference!
Thank you to all of our conference attendees who travelled from near and far. Thank you also to all of our special guest presenters. It was brilliant to see you all and share the experience. Feedback from conference evaluations was overwhelmingly positive with a variety of highlights identified by our attendees.
Discussions have already begun about our ISLA conference for 2023. With the help of your feedback and our own reflections, we hope to make our 2023 conference even better!
We would especially like to thank everyone who attended and made our networking sessions such a warm and positive experience. It was lovely to hear so many conversations and connections being made. Those interactions are very much one of our goals for the event and after years of pandemic restrictions, it was lovely to see and participate in such warm and helpful networking.

2022 Term 3 Wk 2 Network Meeting
Dear ISLA Members,
There will be a network meeting on Thursday 28th July @ 4 p.m. at Balgownie Public School.
220 Balgownie Road, Balgownie.
Primary Topic: 2022 Book Week ideas sharing session.
Secondary Topic: Information Fluency Framework.
We would like to also invite people who are not current members of ISLA to come along. This is a great chance to meet with other teacher librarians and library staff to network and share ideas; if you find it useful and would like to continue attending ISLA meetings you can then consider joining ISLA with easy online payment: https://isla.group/membership/
Please note: If you paid your membership fee in 2021, this payment also covered the 2022 annual fee. This was a one-off action made by the committee as we felt we were unable in 2021 to run normal ISLA activities due to the pandemic.
An ISLA committee meeting will be held after the Network meeting.
Please RVSP by Wednesday 27th July to generalisla@gmail.com
